When Every Door Seems to Close

Dear Sophia,

Have you ever felt like you were being held back?

Not openly. Not in a way you can easily point to. But subtly. Through delays. Through silence. Through doors that first open, only to close again without explanation.

By now, you know the truth by heart.

You know every date. Every sentence. Every contradiction. You know exactly what happened because you did not only live through it, you have also had to explain it a hundred times over.

And still, people keep asking you for proof.

As though the truth becomes less true the moment someone decides not to acknowledge it.

At first, you try to explain everything better. More calmly. More clearly. With more documents, more detail and more patience. You convince yourself that somewhere, there must be a perfect way to phrase it so that everyone will finally understand.

But at some point, you realise something.

Perhaps they already understand.

Perhaps the problem is not that you failed to explain it properly. Perhaps the problem is that the truth is uncomfortable. That it exposes something others would rather keep hidden. That your story demands accountability from people who would prefer to remain silent.

Being obstructed makes you doubt yourself.

You wonder whether you are too forceful. Too suspicious. Too persistent. You reread your own words and search for mistakes that may not even be there.

But Sophia, you do not have to keep defending yourself endlessly to people who have already decided not to listen.

You are allowed to trust what you know.

That does not mean you will never doubt yourself again. It means you stop using every moment of doubt as evidence against yourself.

Name what is happening.

Say that an answer never came. Say that the rules suddenly changed. Say that your words were ignored while others pretended you had never been clear.

Not out of anger.

Not to shout louder.

But because silence only makes the obstruction invisible.

And then?

Then you stop trying to prove yourself over and over again.

Your truth does not need to be reborn every day in order to remain true.

Sometimes the most powerful step is not another explanation.

Sometimes it is standing still, calmly, and saying:

You know what happened.
You have named it.
And you will no longer allow anyone to convince me that you imagined it.

Love,

the part of you that never left

Scammed: The Inside Story of a Perfect Trap explores this space, not as a distant story, but as something that unfolds step by step, often without being noticed until it’s too late.

Because the most dangerous systems are not the ones that look broken.

They are the ones that look perfect.
